Bloomington Public Schools District 87

We are excited to start a brand new school year with all our D87 families! Before we kick off the school year, we want to make sure you have some important information to make the start of the year easy and seamless for you and your student(s). 

Important information:

*1st day of school-

Wednesday, August 19th- Half-day for elementary students in grades 1-5, 6th and 9th graders. (Special note for Kindergarten- individual schools will be contacting families about first-day of school attendance times and/or appointments)

Thursday, August 20th- Full-day for all students in K-12th

Friday, August 21st- First day for Sarah Raymond students

*Physicals & Vaccinations-

Per Illinois law- physicals and immunizations are required for students entering certain grades. Make sure your student has these requirements by the first day of school. If you have a student entering one of the following grade levels and do not have these completed, make sure to make an appointment. The McLean County Health Department will be offering walk-in clinics on

• 12 Grade

*D87 Communication Methods:

District 87 will communicate with families via email, text, voice calls, and app notifications. (Note: at the district level, texting and voice calls will be used sparingly, usually to share information that is time-sensitive). Please download the District87 app to stay up to date with everything from the district and the classroom. Educators will use Rooms, the 2-way communication platform between teacher and guardian(s).
