🌴🌞 In preparation for Spring Break, Mrs. Gunz's 1st-grade class at Bent kicked off the festivities with a fantastic Beach Day! Students wore beach attire—think shorts, t-shirts, hats, sunglasses, and flip flops. Don't forget the beach towel!
The classroom was transformed into a sunny beach haven full of educational activities such as fishing for parts of speech, sorting beachy words in ABC order, and matching bucket and shovel contractions, sorting odd and even flip flops, building sand castles with 10's and 1's, and comparing numbers with fish.
🏖️ Plus, enjoy fish-themed snacks, colorful leis, and a creative jellyfish craft! It was all sun and fun today in Mrs. Gunz's class. Get ready to learn and play, beach style!

And guess what? Their creativity paid off! Dr. Mouser, disguised as a friendly neighborhood leprechaun, made a special appearance with gold! ✨ And that's not all, the day was capped off with a special St. Patrick's Day party! 🎈🍀

Matt is excited to rejoin the D87 family—this time, as a staff member! A proud Bloomington native, Matt attended D87 schools throughout his childhood, graduating from BHS in 2011!
He has an impressive background in professional hockey operations from working with various local teams, and recently joined the BJHS wrestling program as a coach. In addition to coaching, Matt has also worked with local youth football teams, continuing his passion for helping young people grow.
This year, Matt is looking forward to bringing energy and positivity to his new role while helping transform students’ lives. Outside of work, Matt enjoys supporting his daughters, Sterling and Emersyn—both Oakland Elementary students—and spending time with his wife, Jazmyne, and their pup, Pozie (a sweet Beagle/Black Lab). 🐾
