Are you ready to build your future? 🏗️ At the BCA, students in the construction trades program, led by teachers Mr. Frantz and Mr. Nowark, gain hands-on experience in every aspect of the construction industry. From learning the foundations of plumbing and electrical work to interior design and so much more, students are equipped with practical skills that set them up for success! 🚪💡
📍 Not only do students learn in the classroom, but they also get to visit local businesses to explore real-world applications and gain even more hands-on experience! First-year students have the opportunity to get OSHA 10 certified and OSHA 30 certified for 2nd-year students!
🎾 Fun fact: BCA construction students even helped build the shed at the BHS tennis courts! What an awesome way to see their hard work make a real impact in the community. 💪🏽🏘️

Marcellus comes to D87 with experience from the High Road School of Bloomington, where he discovered his love for helping students grow. Inspired by a personal connection to autism, Marcellus is driven to make a difference in the community and support students who need it most.
Marcellus is excited to connect with students at BHS, learn about their diverse backgrounds, and help them overcome any challenges that they may face. His goal is to build relationships and help all his students grow as individuals.
Outside of work, Marcellus enjoys expressing himself through writing poetry 🎤✍️, hitting the gym 💪, and playing chess ♟️. He’s also a diehard Boston Celtics 🏀 and Chicago White Sox ⚾ fan!

🔥📚Last week Mrs. Lovell's class at Irving celebrated their incredible reading growth with a special "Camp Out and Read" day! Students brought blankets, stuffed animals, and their love for books to spend the day diving into their favorite stories.
The fun didn't stop there – they had guest readers, got creative with crafts, enjoyed a sweet s'mores snack, and completed the amazing challenge of reading 100 books in just one day! Wow!🎉

🎼🏅 It's been a busy month for the BJHS band! To close out all the activities, 12 6th-grade band members took an exciting field trip to ISU for an honor band showcase. 🎷🎺
After only 2.5 hours of rehearsal, these young musicians wowed the audience, playing four impressive pieces of music! Kudos to these Knights for representing BJHS with such excellence! 🌟 👏

🌴🌞 In preparation for Spring Break, Mrs. Gunz's 1st-grade class at Bent kicked off the festivities with a fantastic Beach Day! Students wore beach attire—think shorts, t-shirts, hats, sunglasses, and flip flops. Don't forget the beach towel!
The classroom was transformed into a sunny beach haven full of educational activities such as fishing for parts of speech, sorting beachy words in ABC order, and matching bucket and shovel contractions, sorting odd and even flip flops, building sand castles with 10's and 1's, and comparing numbers with fish.
🏖️ Plus, enjoy fish-themed snacks, colorful leis, and a creative jellyfish craft! It was all sun and fun today in Mrs. Gunz's class. Get ready to learn and play, beach style!
