She’s excited to join District 87 because of its strong sense of community. Annabelle values being part of a place where employees and connections within the community are truly appreciated.
This year, Annabelle is looking forward to finding her rhythm in her very own classroom and learning alongside her students.
A little about Annabelle: She has two sisters who are her best friends. She loves spending time in nature with her girlfriend and has been dedicating lots of time to yoga this summer!🧘🏼♂️

Today marked a special milestone for D87 as Sarah Raymond opened the new building to students and families for the first time! 🏫 Families were welcomed during today's open house, where classrooms were ready for supply drop-offs, and our Rookies got to meet their teachers and classmates.
Principal Jeff Dobbs connected with parents in the state-of-the-art gym, while our littlest learners explored their new classrooms and enjoyed some playtime with their teachers. 🧸✨

🎉Today we welcome Baylen Hammond, who will be joining BHS as an English teacher, bringing her experience from Dee-Mack High School.
Teaching runs in Baylen's family; her grandparents, aunt, mom, and brother have all inspired her to pursue a career working with kids and adolescents. She loves being part of a profession that uplifts growth and diversity, values she holds close to her heart both inside and outside the classroom.
This year, Baylen is most looking forward to teaching, building relationships with her students, and basketball season!
Some fun facts about Baylen: She has a dog, Maizie, and a cat, Autumn, who is named after her favorite season. Baylen is a big fan of Halloween, college football, and sipping spicy chai. She enjoys crafting, reading, and thrifting, but her true passion is photography. Whether it's concert photography, photoshoots, or sports photography. She’d take her camera everywhere with her if she could!

🎉 A special first day for our newest Knights & Raiders! Today, BJHS and BHS welcomed only 6th and 9th graders, giving them a head start to explore their schedules, get comfortable in their new buildings, and kick off the year with confidence!
Our 6th-grade Knights were greeted by some of their former D87 elementary teachers, while 9th-grade Raiders took part in Q&A sessions, signed the Class of 2030 poster, and received brand-new Raider football T-shirts! 👕

Sheridan is excited to debut its new secure entrance for the school year! 🚪✨ Guests will now be welcomed into the vestibule to easily sign students in or out.
Guardians needing access beyond the secure vestibule will be screened using Crisis-Go for added safety, so don’t forget to bring your driver’s license or state ID!

Leah will be joining the Raiders at BHS as an LBS1 teacher!
At this time last year, Leah was starting her senior year of college, preparing to pursue her dream of teaching. She was inspired to go into education because she wanted to see the future every day and help students follow their dreams.
Leah is already familiar with D87, having completed her Field Base semester here. She loved the sense of community and the connections she built, which made her want to deepen her roots and continue building impactful relationships at BHS.
Leah is most excited this year to coach cheer and promote school spirit among the Raiders family.
Fun facts about Leah: She’s also a barista and has a passion for creating excitement and energy both in and out of the classroom!

📢 Power Outage Update
The following D87 buildings are still without power: the Brown Education Center, Stevenson, Oakland, Bent, and the District 87 offices.
⚠️ These buildings will remain closed to the public until further notice.
Staff may enter the buildings as needed. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this situation.
Backpacks and school supplies will be available at schools once distributed next week. WE will share more information soon about when and how families can pick up supplies.
