🐶The BJHS Student Council has been hard at work on a "pawsome" service project. They created over 200 t-shirt dog toys for the Humane Society of Central Illinois, bringing joy to countless furry friends! 🎈🐾 They also made a toy for each of our D87 Certified Therapy dogs school in their school colors as a thank-you for their r service to our staff and students. 🏫💕 The BJHS Student Council members also had the opportunity to present some of these toys during a recent D87 board meeting, sharing their projects with our board members. 👏🐕‍🦺 Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this "pawsome" initiative! #BJHSStudentCouncil #ServiceProject #CommunitySupport #ForTheLoveOfDogs #WeAreD87 🐶El Consejo Estudiantil de BJHS ha estado trabajando arduamente en un proyecto de servicio “pawsome”. 🌈🐯 Celebrating the end of their Stevenson journey, 5th-grade Tigers had a blast at Clearwater Park for Vivid Color Day! Thanks to a classroom reimbursement stipend, 5th-graders went all out with color packs and white shirts for a color explosion. 🎨💥 Kids signed each other's shirts, making memories of their time at Stevenson! 🎨✏️ Math meets creativity in Mr. Jones’ 7th-grade classroom! For the past 18 years, his students have ended the year with a fun cartoon project. 📐📏 This end-of-year project reinforces the concepts of scale and proportional reasoning covered at the start of the year. Students choose the cartoon character they want to draw, bring in their math, and voila, cartoon art is made! 🎨✨ BHS Senior Art Showcase Spotlight ✨🎨 Meet two remarkable seniors whose artistic journeys have led them to incredible futures: 🌟 Jocelyn Anderson 🌟 Next stop: College of Charleston for a BA in Arts Management and a Masters in Public Administration. 🏫 Jocelyn’s art journey has been deeply inspired by her involvement in the Teen Art Group, leading to her participation in curating the art show "Reflection" now on view at University Galleries. 🖼️ 🌟 Lauren Garner 🌟 Lauren’s next chapter begins at Heartland, followed by a pursuit of Art Education with a minor in Theater at ISU. 🎭 Her dedication to art is matched by her involvement in the future teacher program and the drama club at BHS. 📚 These students have not only excelled in Advanced Art Studio II, under art teacher Mrs. Estabrook, but they created their own portfolios and also ended the year with a solo art exhibition. 🖌️Fun fact: Mrs. Estabrook had the pleasure of teaching both Lauren and Jocelyn at Stevenson School and BHS! 🏀Let's hear it for BJHS's very own Coach Dallas Marshall! 🎉 He's been named the Boys Jr. High Coach of the Year by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association, selected from over 450 coaches for this prestigious honor! 🙌 Making this moment even more special is Coach Marshall is the FIRST BJHS boys' basketball coach ever to receive this award. Fun Fact: Sondra Findley won the award for BJHS girls' basketball in 2003 and one of her players from that year has a son who started for Coach Dallas this year! 🏅 Go Coach Marshall! 🚣‍♂️📦 Sink or Swim? That was the big question in Ms. Hargis' honors physics class at BHS. Students tested their engineering skills by building boats out of cardboard and taking them on a maiden voyage in the BHS pool. 🎓✨ A big cheer to this year's Irving Gamsky Scholarship recipients! 📚 The Irving Scholarship, has been supporting past Mustangs for 39 years, and has awarded a total of $77,300 to 187 students to date! The scholarship was started by Irving teachers and former counselor, Irene Gamsky. Donations come from retired teachers and principals, community members and organizations, and memorial donations, of which this year’s funding included a special donation in memory of former teacher Rick Bremner. 🌟 Congrats to this year's winners (all former Mustangs!) and their future institutions: Elina Alvarez, Illinois State University Kamorah Carter, Illinois Wesleyan University Terressa McGill, Hairmaster’s Institute of Cosmetology Ariana Rider, Texas State University Chet Swank, Illinois State University Each student was awarded $500 to support their educational journeys post-high school! 🎉👩‍🎓👨‍🎓 #IrvingScholarship #EducationafterBHS #CongratulationsGraduates #WeAreD87 🎓✨ ¡Un enorme aplauso para los acreedores de la beca Irving Gamsky!📚 la Beca de Irving, ha apoyado a anteriores Mustangs por 39 años, y a recibido un total de $77,300 y ha apoyado a 187 estudiantes ¡hasta la fecha!
